The textile and clothing industry is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, accounting for around 53% of total exports and providing direct employment to around 2.5m people. Pakistan is also ranked as the fourth largest of the world’s 70 cotton growing countries. Here we present an overview of the industry before it was devastated by floods earlier this month.
