Asia-Pacific witnessed a 22.3% drop in IT hiring activity in the apparel industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
September 2022 has seen an increase of 1.94% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.
IT jobs accounted for an 8.69% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 4.55% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 58.9% in September 2022, an 11.15% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 21.05% in September 2022, marking a 17.48% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 9.77% in September 2022, a 16.13% drop from August 2022.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 6.52% in September 2022, a 15.56% rise over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 1.17% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s apparel industry during September 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 427 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a decline of 27.13% over the previous month, followed by Rakuten Group with 141 jobs and a 1662.5% growth. JD with 60 IT jobs and Target with 39 jobs, recorded a 53.85% rise and a 5.41% rise, respectively, while Inter IKEA Holding recorded a 68.75% increase with 27 job postings during September 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s apparel industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 49% share in September 2022, a 24.08% decrease over August 2022. Japan featured next with a 20.43% share, up 462.07% over the previous month. China recorded a 15.91% share, a drop of 0.78% compared with August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.14%, down by 8.9% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with a 26.57% share, registered a decline of 6.61% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 18.3% share, up 0.69% over August 2022.
