Asia-Pacific witnessed a 3.0% drop in IT hiring activity in the apparel industry in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
July 2022 has seen an increase of 3.43% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 12.99% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2022, registering a decrease of 0.83% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 66.03% in July 2022, a 22.52% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 18.04% in July 2022, marking a 25.74% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 8.97% in July 2022, a 21.3% drop from June 2022.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 4.64% in July 2022, a 25.71% rise over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 12.35% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s apparel industry during July 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 671 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a decline of 20.87% over the previous month, followed by Target with 56 jobs and a 69.7% growth. adidas with 41 IT jobs and Coles Group with 33 jobs, recorded a 1950% rise and an 8.33% drop, respectively, while JD recorded a 3.57% increase with 29 job postings during July 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s apparel industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 62.45% share in July 2022, a 15.06% decrease over June 2022. China featured next with an 11.6% share, down 20.86% over the previous month. Australia recorded an 11.5% share, a growth of 10.1% compared with June 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 51.48%, down by 14.83% from June 2022. Entry Level positions with a 32.38% share, registered a growth of 4.42% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 16.03% share, down 36.93% over June 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.11%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
