Asia-Pacific witnessed a 38.2% drop in IT hiring activity in the apparel industry in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
November 2022 has seen an increase of 5.37% in the overall hiring activity when compared with October 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.29% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in November 2022, registering a decrease of 5.05% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in November 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 42.86% in November 2022, a 71.01% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 39.13% in November 2022, marking a 47.06% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 8.7% in November 2022, a 70.21% drop from October 2022.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 6.21% in November 2022, a 75% decline over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 68.5% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s apparel industry during November 2022 over previous month.
JD posted 37 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a decline of 19.57% over the previous month, followed by Target with 36 jobs and an 89.47% growth. Inter IKEA Holding with 18 IT jobs and Amazon with 16 jobs, recorded a 14.29% drop and a 94.37% drop, respectively, while Rakuten Group recorded an 18.18% increase with 13 job postings during November 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s apparel industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 39.75% share in November 2022, a 71.04% decrease over October 2022. China featured next with a 34.16% share, down 36.78% over the previous month. Japan recorded a 9.32% share, a drop of 42.31% compared with October 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.57%, down by 61.38% from October 2022. Entry Level positions with a 15.53% share, registered a decline of 69.88% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 14.91% share, down 73.03% over October 2022.
