Canada’s apparel industry registered a 2.9% drop in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 6.75% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.
Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 31.73% share in July 2022, recording an increase of 6.3% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.37% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s apparel industry in July 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 84.28% in July 2022, registering a 17.79% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 9.75% share, a decrease of 22.5% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 3.46%, registering a 37.5% rise from June 2022.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 1.26%, down 20% over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 14.82% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s apparel industry during July 2022 over June 2022.
Amazon posted 273 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a drop of 20.64% over the previous month, followed by Lululemon Athletica with 18 jobs and an 80% growth. Loblaw Companies with 14 IT jobs and eBay with 9 jobs, recorded a 16.67% growth and an 80% growth, respectively, while Chanel recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 40.57%, down by 31.02% from June 2022. Entry Level positions with a 39.94% share, registered a decline of 15.33% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 19.5% share, up 44.19% over June 2022.
