
Canada’s apparel industry registered a 23.1% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 13.39% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 27.93% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 1.92% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s apparel industry in August 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 68.42% in August 2022, registering an 80.6% decline over the previous month.
2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 10.53% share, a decrease of 27.27% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 10.53%, registering a 300% rise from July 2022.
4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 9.21%, down 77.42% over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 76.43% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s apparel industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
Amazon posted 30 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 89.01% over the previous month, followed by Loblaw Companies with 17 jobs and a 21.43% growth. Lululemon Athletica with 14 IT jobs and CCC with 8 jobs, recorded a 22.22% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while eBay recorded a decline of 44.44% with 5 job postings during August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.26%, down by 67.44% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 30.26% share, registered a decline of 62.9% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 14.47% share, down 91.34% over July 2022.
