Canada’s apparel industry registered a 28.5% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 25.57% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.
Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 21.94% share in October 2022, recording a decrease of 3.7% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s apparel industry in October 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 84.21% in October 2022, registering a 42.86% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 8.19% share, a decrease of 48.15% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 3.51%, registering a 62.5% decline from September 2022.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 2.34%, down 20% over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 43.96% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s apparel industry during October 2022 over September 2022.
Amazon posted 118 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a drop of 53.17% over the previous month, followed by Lululemon Athletica with 24 jobs and a 71.43% growth. Loblaw Companies with 11 IT jobs and Rakuten Group with 7 jobs, recorded a 50% decline and a 75% growth, respectively, while eBay recorded an increase of 16.67% with 7 job postings during October 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 45.03%, down by 47.26% from September 2022. Entry Level positions with a 39.18% share, registered a decline of 41.74% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 15.2% share, down 33.33% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.58%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
