Canada’s apparel industry registered a 54.0% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 27.17% in November 2022 when compared with October 2022.

Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 13.96% share in November 2022, recording a decrease of 9.63% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Canada’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s apparel industry in November 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 26.92% in November 2022, registering a 95.17% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 26.92% share, a decrease of 61.11% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 19.23%, registering a 16.67% decline from October 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 19.23%, up 66.67% over the previous month.

Top five apparel companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 40.91% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s apparel industry during November 2022 over October 2022.

Lululemon Athletica posted 15 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a drop of 37.5% over the previous month, followed by Loblaw Companies with 6 jobs and a 45.45% drop. Rakuten Group with 3 IT jobs and Gildan Activewear with 1 jobs, recorded a 57.14% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Inter IKEA Holding recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during November 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 53.85%, down by 82.72% from October 2022. Mid Level positions with a 26.92% share, registered a decline of 77.42% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 19.23% share, down 92.75% over October 2022.
