China’s apparel industry registered a 15.1% drop in IT hiring activity in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 24.42% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.

Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.51% share in May 2022, recording an increase of 0.78% over the last three-month average share.


Top five job classifications in China’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s apparel industry in May 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 69.57% in May 2022, registering a 39.05% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 15.22% share, a flat growth over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 10.87%, registering a 28.57% decline from April 2022.

4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 4.35%, up 100% over the previous month.


Top five apparel companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 24.79% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s apparel industry during May 2022 over April 2022.

Amazon posted 53 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a drop of 31.17% over the previous month, followed by JD with 24 jobs and a 27.27% drop. eBay with 8 IT jobs and Inter IKEA Holding with 5 jobs, recorded a 60% growth and a 16.67% decrease, respectively, while adidas recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during May 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 75%, down by 28.13% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 15.22% share, registered a decline of 54.84% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.78% share, down 18.18% over April 2022.
