China’s apparel industry IT recruitment activity drops 19.2% in October 2022

China’s apparel industry registered a 19.2% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 6.62% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 6.03% share in October 2022, recording a decrease of 1.98% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in China’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.65% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s apparel industry in October 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 49.41% in October 2022, registering a 52.27% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 24.71% share, an increase of 5% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 16.47%, registering a flat growth from September 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 3.53%, up 50% over the previous month.

Top five apparel companies in China’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average flat growth share in the overall IT recruitment activity of China’s apparel industry during October 2022 over September 2022.

JD posted 46 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a drop of 23.33% over the previous month, followed by Amazon with 25 jobs and a 48.98% drop. Inter IKEA Holding with 12 IT jobs and eBay with 2 jobs, recorded a 100% growth and an 84.62% decrease.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.24%, down by 39.58% from September 2022. Entry Level positions with a 22.35% share, registered a decline of 5% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 9.41% share, down 42.86% over September 2022.
