Europe witnessed a 5.5% drop in IT hiring activity in the apparel industry in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

July 2022 has seen a decrease of 1.01% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 5.38% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2022, registering a decrease of 0.83% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 66.2% in July 2022, a 32.14% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 16.43% in July 2022, marking a 0.71% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 6.41% in July 2022, an 8.33% drop from June 2022.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 5.36% in July 2022, a 43.9% decline over the previous month.

Top five apparel companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 15.93% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s apparel industry during July 2022 over previous month.

Amazon posted 438 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a decline of 12.22% over the previous month, followed by Inter IKEA Holding with 58 jobs and a 20.55% drop. Veepee with 44 IT jobs and X5 Retail Group with 37 jobs, recorded a 45.68% drop and a 27.45% drop, respectively, while Schwarz Unternehmenskommunikation GmbHKG recorded a 45.83% increase with 35 job postings during July 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s apparel industry

The UK commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 25.52% share in July 2022, a 10.61% decrease over June 2022. Germany featured next with a 23.54% share, down 41.62% over the previous month. France recorded a 9.21% share, a drop of 26.85% compared with June 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.73%, down by 32.62% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.93% share, registered a decline of 5.52% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.1% share, down 15.38% over June 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.23%, recording a month-on-month decline of 33.33%.
