Europe witnessed a 7.4% drop in IT hiring activity in the apparel industry in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
June 2022 has seen an increase of 9.56% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 5.49% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2022, registering a decrease of 1.27% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 67.05% in June 2022, a 26.7% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 12.85% in June 2022, marking a 32.21% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 8.27% in June 2022, a 5.8% drop from May 2022.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 6.74% in June 2022, a 25.35% decline over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 19.25% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s apparel industry during June 2022 over previous month.
REWE Group posted 160 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Amazon with 157 jobs and a 68.54% drop. Veepee with 80 IT jobs and Inter IKEA Holding with 73 jobs, recorded a 48.15% rise and a flat growth, respectively, while John Lewis Partnership recorded a 177.78% increase with 50 job postings during June 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s apparel industry
Germany commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 32.95% share in June 2022, an 18.81% increase over May 2022. The UK featured next with a 15.52% share, down 51% over the previous month. France recorded an 11.96% share, a growth of 11.9% compared with May 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 75.19%, down by 17.34% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 12.21% share, registered a decline of 44.51% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.21% share, down 38.85% over May 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.38%, recording a month-on-month decline of 25%.
