India’s apparel industry registered a 0.2% drop in IT hiring activity in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 0.53% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.
Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 24.97% share in May 2022, recording an increase of 0.55% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in India’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s apparel industry in May 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 79.36% in May 2022, registering a 17.52% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 9.47% share, a decrease of 21.88% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 8.9%, registering an 18.97% decline from April 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 1.52%, down 46.67% over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 18.34% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s apparel industry during May 2022 over April 2022.
Amazon posted 453 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a drop of 16.73% over the previous month, followed by Target with 26 jobs and a 25.71% drop. Walmart with 20 IT jobs and NIKE with 8 jobs, recorded a 53.85% growth and a 42.86% decrease, respectively, while adidas recorded a decline of 76.19% with 5 job postings during May 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 45.64%, down by 29.94% from April 2022. Entry Level positions with a 42.42% share, registered a decline of 1.32% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 11.93% share, down 27.59% over April 2022.
