India’s apparel industry registered a 15.9% drop in IT hiring activity in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 17.4% in June 2022 when compared with May 2022.

Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 29.75% share in June 2022, recording an increase of 0.44% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 58.65% in June 2022, registering an 86.29% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 30.77% share, a decrease of 62.79% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 4.81%, registering an 83.87% decline from May 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 4.81%, down 90.2% over the previous month.

Top five apparel companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 85.47% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s apparel industry during June 2022 over May 2022.

Target posted 30 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a drop of 14.29% over the previous month, followed by NIKE with 29 jobs and a 123.08% growth. Walmart with 10 IT jobs and Veepee with 10 jobs, recorded a 56.52% decline and a 42.86% growth, respectively, while Amazon recorded a decline of 98.64% with 7 job postings during June 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 52.88%, down by 80.77% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 37.5% share, registered a decline of 60.2% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.62% share, down 95.88% over May 2022.
