India’s apparel industry registered a 31.7% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 23.34% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.
Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 25.23% share in September 2022, recording a decrease of 3.48% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in India’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.98% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s apparel industry in September 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 59.08% in September 2022, registering a 29.57% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 17.39% share, a decrease of 5.56% over the previous month.
3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 10.74%, registering a 30% decline from August 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 8.7%, up 13.33% over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 14.12% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s apparel industry during September 2022 over August 2022.
Amazon posted 284 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a drop of 23.04% over the previous month, followed by Target with 39 jobs and a 5.41% growth. NIKE with 22 IT jobs and Inter IKEA Holding with 13 jobs, recorded an 83.33% growth and a 160% growth, respectively, while StockX recorded an increase of 250% with 7 job postings during September 2022.
Entry Level job postings dominate in September 2022
Entry Level jobs held a share of 41.18%, down by 10.56% from August 2022. Junior Level positions with a 38.62% share, registered a decline of 41.02% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 20.2% share, flat growth over August 2022.
