India’s apparel industry registered a 48.4% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 36.04% in November 2022 when compared with October 2022.

Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 17.46% share in November 2022, recording a decrease of 7.43% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s apparel industry in November 2022.

1) Database and Network Administrators and Architects recorded a share of 53.13% in November 2022, registering a 17.07% decline over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 35.94% share, a decrease of 80.99% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 7.81%, registering an 84.38% decline from October 2022.

4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 3.13%, up 100% over the previous month.

Top five apparel companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 6.15% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s apparel industry during November 2022 over October 2022.

Target posted 36 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a rise of 89.47% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 10 jobs and a 9.09% drop. NIKE with 6 IT jobs and Inter IKEA Holding with 5 jobs, recorded a 78.57% decline and a 28.57% decrease, respectively, while adidas recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during November 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.63%, down by 66.4% from October 2022. Mid Level positions with a 25% share, registered a decline of 64.44% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 9.38% share, down 88.24% over October 2022.
