Middle East & Africa witnessed a 10.9% drop in IT hiring activity in the apparel industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
September 2022 has seen an increase of 0.5% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 14.75% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 2.38% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 71.43% in September 2022, a 12.9% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 9.18% in September 2022, marking a 200% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 6.12% in September 2022, a 64.71% drop from August 2022.
Computer and Information Research Scientists registered a share of 5.1% in September 2022, a 25% rise over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 1.09% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s apparel industry during September 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 62 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered an increase of 6.9% over the previous month, followed by Inter IKEA Holding with 20 jobs and an 81.82% growth. Foschini Group with 7 IT jobs and Mr. Price Group with 2 jobs, recorded a 61.11% drop and a flat growth, respectively, while Pick n Pay Stores recorded a 33.33% decline with 2 job postings during September 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s apparel industry
South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 40.82% share in September 2022, a 29.82% decrease over August 2022. Israel featured next with a 30.61% share, up 42.86% over the previous month. Niger recorded a 20.41% share, a growth of 81.82% compared with August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 69.39%, up by 38.78% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with an 18.37% share, registered a decline of 14.29% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.24% share, down 60% over August 2022.
