North America witnessed an 18.2% drop in IT hiring activity in the apparel industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
September 2022 has seen a decrease of 1.37% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.92% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 1.7% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 79.82% in September 2022, a 19.18% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 9.55% in September 2022, marking a 1.94% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 5.3% in September 2022, an 18.7% rise from August 2022.
Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 2.79% in September 2022, a 37.4% decline over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 18.78% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s apparel industry during September 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 1,738 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a decline of 29.23% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 308 jobs and a 10.2% drop. Dollar Tree with 226 IT jobs and NIKE with 71 jobs, recorded an 11200% rise and a 1.43% rise, respectively, while eBay recorded a 34.25% decline with 48 job postings during September 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s apparel industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with an 88.42% share in September 2022, a 17.42% decrease over August 2022. Canada featured next with a 10.49% share, down 18.82% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.73% share, a drop of 23.08% compared with August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 49.84%, down by 17.19% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with a 30.93% share, registered a decline of 19.77% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 19.24% share, down 12.97% over August 2022.
