October 2022 has seen a decrease of 7.8% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 3.97% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering a decrease of 1.78% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 78.13% in October 2022, an 18.88% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 7.94% in October 2022, marking a 30.42% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 7.42% in October 2022, a 15.54% rise from September 2022.
Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 3.3% in October 2022, a flat growth over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 17.55% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s apparel industry during October 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 1,438 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a decline of 17.69% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 327 jobs and a 4.81% growth. Dollar Tree with 96 IT jobs and NIKE with 65 jobs, recorded a 57.52% drop and an 8.45% drop, respectively, while eBay recorded a 16.67% increase with 56 job postings during October 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s apparel industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 91.36% share in October 2022, a 14.19% decrease over September 2022. Canada featured next with a 7.42% share, down 43% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.22% share, a growth of 40% compared with September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 49.48%, down by 17.51% from September 2022. Entry Level positions with a 29.17% share, registered a decline of 21.77% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 21.05% share, down 10.52% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.3%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
