North America witnessed a 4.6% drop in IT hiring activity in the apparel industry in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
July 2022 has seen an increase of 7.01% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 6.41% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2022, registering a decrease of 0.43% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 84.94% in July 2022, a 16.25% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 7.97% in July 2022, marking a 46.78% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 2.84% in July 2022, a 9.91% drop from June 2022.
Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 2.5% in July 2022, a 41.72% decline over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 19.66% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s apparel industry during July 2022 over previous month.
Amazon posted 2,747 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a decline of 22.47% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 287 jobs and a 16.08% drop. eBay with 97 IT jobs and NIKE with 60 jobs, recorded a 40.58% rise and a 1.64% drop, respectively, while Publix Super Markets recorded a 125% increase with 54 job postings during July 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s apparel industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 90.41% share in July 2022, a 20.84% decrease over June 2022. Canada featured next with a 9.02% share, down 16.32% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.54% share, a drop of 51.28% compared with June 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 47.32%, down by 20.15% from June 2022. Entry Level positions with a 28.37% share, registered a decline of 31.6% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 24.26% share, down 4.47% over June 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.06%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
