South & Central America witnessed an 8.8% drop in IT hiring activity in the apparel industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

September 2022 has seen a decrease of 5.94% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 10.21% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 0.12% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 88.51% in September 2022, a 4.05% rise over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 5.75% in September 2022, marking a 25% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 4.6% in September 2022, a 33.33% drop from August 2022.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 1.15% in September 2022, a 50% decline over the previous month.

Top five apparel companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average flat growth in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s apparel industry during September 2022 over previous month.

Amazon posted 58 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered an increase of 11.54% over the previous month, followed by CCC with 24 jobs and a 22.58% drop. adidas with 3 IT jobs and Chalhoub Group with 2 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 100% rise, respectively, while recorded a flat growth with job postings during September 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s apparel industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s apparel industry IT hiring activity with a 55.17% share in September 2022, a 45.45% increase over August 2022. Colombia featured next with a 33.33% share, down 25.64% over the previous month. Costa Rica recorded a 5.75% share, a drop of 16.67% compared with August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.97%, down by 4.76% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 16.09% share, registered a decline of 17.65% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 14.94% share, up 116.67% over August 2022.
