
The UK’s apparel industry registered a 0.9% drop in IT hiring activity in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 0.95% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.
Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.04% share in May 2022, recording a decrease of 0.12% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.01% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s apparel industry in May 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 69.8% in May 2022, registering an 11.9% growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 9.41% share, a decrease of 24% over the previous month.
3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 7.43%, registering a 15.38% rise from April 2022.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 6.44%, up 44.44% over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 14.01% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s apparel industry during May 2022 over April 2022.
Amazon posted 132 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a rise of 18.92% over the previous month, followed by John Lewis Partnership with 14 jobs and a 39.13% drop. Farfetch with 13 IT jobs and Marks and Spencer Group with 12 jobs, recorded a 225% growth and a 71.43% growth, respectively, while Asda Stores recorded a decline of 33.33% with 8 job postings during May 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.28%, up by 8.15% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 17.33% share, registered a decline of 5.41% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 10.4% share, up 75% over April 2022.
