The UK’s apparel industry registered a 15.7% drop in IT hiring activity in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 13.39% in June 2022 when compared with May 2022.

Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.57% share in June 2022, recording a decrease of 0.17% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s apparel industry in June 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 54.92% in June 2022, registering a 58.13% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer Support Specialists claimed an 18.85% share, an increase of 43.75% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 16.39%, registering a 39.39% decline from May 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 9.02%, down 54.17% over the previous month.

Top five apparel companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 47.98% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s apparel industry during June 2022 over May 2022.

John Lewis Partnership posted 50 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a rise of 177.78% over the previous month, followed by Amazon with 35 jobs and a 77.12% drop. Marks and Spencer Group with 8 IT jobs and Harrods with 6 jobs, recorded a 55.56% decline and a 50% growth, respectively, while eBay recorded a decline of 20% with 4 job postings during June 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 77.05%, down by 47.19% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 12.3% share, registered a decline of 68.09% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 10.66% share, down 45.83% over May 2022.
