The UK’s apparel industry registered a 2.5% drop in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 10.39% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.
Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.24% share in July 2022, recording an increase of 0.47% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.09% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s apparel industry in July 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 62.56% in July 2022, registering a 21.26% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 20.09% share, an increase of 62.96% over the previous month.
3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 7.31%, registering a 30.43% decline from June 2022.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 6.85%, up 7.14% over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 8.52% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s apparel industry during July 2022 over June 2022.
Amazon posted 141 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a drop of 9.62% over the previous month, followed by John Lewis Partnership with 32 jobs and a 36% drop. Marks and Spencer Group with 17 IT jobs and Frasers Group with 8 jobs, recorded an 112.5% growth and a 166.67% growth, respectively, while Harrods recorded a flat growth with 6 job postings during July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.93%, down by 19.08% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 24.2% share, registered an increase of 29.27% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.42% share, down 19.35% over June 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.46%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
