The UK’s apparel industry registered a 27.0% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 17.63% in November 2022 when compared with October 2022.

Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 2.19% share in November 2022, recording a decrease of 0.82% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.68% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s apparel industry in November 2022.

1) Database and Network Administrators and Architects recorded a share of 32.89% in November 2022, registering a 34.21% decline over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 32.89% share, a decrease of 74.75% over the previous month.

3) Computer Support Specialists held a share of 13.16%, registering a 58.33% decline from October 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 11.84%, down 18.18% over the previous month.

Top five apparel companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 5.17% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s apparel industry during November 2022 over October 2022.

J Sainsbury posted 31 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Asda Stores with 8 jobs and a 27.27% drop. Frasers Group with 7 IT jobs and Harrods with 5 jobs, recorded a 68.18% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while John Lewis Partnership recorded a decline of 80% with 4 job postings during November 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 64.47%, down by 61.72% from October 2022. Mid Level positions with a 22.37% share, registered a decline of 60.47% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.16% share, down 41.18% over October 2022.
