The UK’s apparel industry registered a 9.3% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 12.2% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.45% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.53% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.39% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s apparel industry in August 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 58.28% in August 2022, registering a 31.16% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 19.63% share, a decrease of 27.27% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 9.82%, registering a 6.67% rise from July 2022.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.13%, down 37.5% over the previous month.
Top five apparel companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 38.02% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s apparel industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
Amazon posted 53 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 62.68% over the previous month, followed by Asda Stores with 23 jobs and a flat growth. John Lewis Partnership with 18 IT jobs and Marks and Spencer Group with 17 jobs, recorded a 43.75% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while JD Sports Fashion recorded an increase of 700% with 8 job postings during August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.1%, down by 21.28% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.02% share, registered a decline of 41.51% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.88% share, down 16% over July 2022.
