The US’s apparel industry registered a 2.0% drop in IT hiring activity in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 6.52% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.

Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.49% share in May 2022, recording an increase of 0.07% over the last three-month average share.


Top five job classifications in the US’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 99.3% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s apparel industry in May 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 89.05% in May 2022, registering a 7.57% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 3.69% share, a decrease of 16.46% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 3.36%, registering a 2.46% rise from April 2022.

4) Computer and Information Research Scientists captured a share of 1.99%, up 7.25% over the previous month.


Top five apparel companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 2.89% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s apparel industry during May 2022 over April 2022.

Amazon posted 2,710 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a drop of 2.06% over the previous month, followed by Dollar Tree with 285 jobs and a 7025% growth. Walmart with 285 IT jobs and Target with 110 jobs, recorded a 37.22% decline and a 35.8% growth, respectively, while NIKE recorded an increase of 23.21% with 69 job postings during May 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 47.43%, down by 9.91% from April 2022. Entry Level positions with a 33.9% share, registered an increase of 1.53% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 18.48% share, down 13.26% over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.19%, recording a month-on-month increase of 133.33%.
