The US’s apparel industry registered a 7.7% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 1.7% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.

Out of the apparel industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.73% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.79% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s apparel industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s apparel industry in August 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 80.65% in August 2022, registering a 7.52% growth over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 8.4% share, an increase of 18.32% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 4.55%, registering a 90.91% rise from July 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 3.06%, up 22.83% over the previous month.

Top five apparel companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 14.96% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s apparel industry during August 2022 over July 2022.

Amazon posted 2,985 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a rise of 18.22% over the previous month, followed by Walmart with 238 jobs and a 17.36% drop. eBay with 68 IT jobs and NIKE with 65 jobs, recorded a 22.73% decline and an 8.33% growth, respectively, while Neiman Marcus Group LTD recorded a flat growth with 48 job postings during August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 49.28%, up by 16.31% from July 2022. Entry Level positions with a 32.39% share, registered an increase of 33.22% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 18.24% share, down 16.29% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.08%, recording a month-on-month increase of 50%.
