The new tech hires come just a few weeks after Adidas became the latest to mark its entry into the metaverse with a collection of digital and physical items to be sold as non-fungible tokens. In total, Adidas plans for 2,800 new hires at 307 locations over 47 countries. Further positions are to be advertised over the course of the year and will involve backfilling vacancies with over 800 of the new hires in Germany, and with more than 50 positions for apprenticeships or dual studies starting in the autumn. As well as digital and analytics, the company is also continuing to hire in the area of sustainability, having already doubled the number of jobs in this area last year. Ealier this year Adidas teamed with Prada on their eco Re-Nylon collection. Adidas executive board member, responsible for human resources, people and culture, Amanda Rajkumar, said: "We want to set standards as an employer. Adidas is an employer like no other, and we go above and beyond every day to create an attractive working environment for our employees. adidas is fantastic, and I can only encourage those interested to apply." The majority of the new employees, more than 900, will be deployed in retail stores. Adidas says it currently employs around 62,000 people, of which around 7,700 are in Germany, and 5,300 employees work at the company headquarters in Herzogenaurach. Just Style approached Adidas headquarters in Herzogenaurach, Germany, for comment but were told by a spokesperson that no further details were available at this time.
