AFRICA: World Bank Calls For Development Focus At Qatar
The World Bank has called for the coming round of trade talks beginning in November at Qatar to be a development round. In its latest annual report, Global Economic Prospects and Developing Countries 2002, the World Bank emphasised the need for the world trade regime to be overhauled to improve long term prospects for developing countries. Most are suffering disproportionately from the current economic slowdown, which was made worse by the Sept 11th attacks.
