BELGIUM: EC Probes Aid For German Synthetic Fibre Plant
The European Commission on Tuesday said it had launched an investigation into a German grant of 93 million euros Capro Schwedt GmbH to build a factory to produce caprolactam, which is used to make synthetic fibres. The plant, which cost around 331 million euros to build, is sited on a chemical industrial park which the Commission says it has doubts about the "unfinished definition" of the scheme amid concerns over how many jobs it will actually create.
