The Bharat Tex 2024 event claims to encapsulate the “5F” vision, that covers the entire textile value chain, from farming to fibre production, manufacturing, fashion, and foreign markets, as described by the union minister of textiles, commerce & industry, consumer affairs and food & public distribution, Shri Piyush Goyal.

Beyond being an exhibition, Bharat Tex 2024 promises to provide an immersive experience, uniting key players from the Indian and global textile sectors and also spotlighting the opportunities, infrastructure, incentives, and benefits available in India for global investors and buyers. It wants to serve as a platform for stakeholders to explore India’s strengths as both a global manufacturer and consumer market.

Goyal hopes that Bharat Tex 2024 will drive industry growth and showcase India as a “mature, competitive global sourcing destination in the global textile industry.”

The event intends to serve as a comprehensive platform to position and showcase India’s strengths in fashion, traditional crafts, and sustainability initiatives.

With more than 1,000 exhibitors and over 30,000 visitors from 40 countries, expected to attend, the event will include knowledge sessions, seminars, conferences, CEO roundtables, B2B & G2G meetings, as well as strategic investment announcements, product launches, and collaborations that aim to reshape the global textile industry.

Attendees will be able to join live demonstrations, cultural events, fashion presentations, designer and brand exhibitions, sustainability workshops, and expert talks.

The Bharat Tex 2024 is set to be hosted at Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan and Yashobhoomi at IICC, Dwarka, New Delhi, covering an exhibition area exceeding 2,00,000 square meters.

The event is anticipated to be the “biggest textile event at the global level”, featuring exhibitors and buyers from over 40 countries. It intends to offer a broad presentation of the entire textile industry value chain, from India’s rich cultural heritage and traditional textiles to the latest technological innovations.

This industry-led initiative is set to be organised collaboratively by 11 textile-related Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) and other industry bodies. Shri Naren Goenka, chairman of the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), and Shri Bhadresh Dodhia, chairman of the Manmade and Technical Textiles Export Promotion Council (MATEXIL), presented detailed plans for the fair during the curtain raiser event, which saw the attendance of industry associations, textile sector leaders, and senior government officials.

During the curtain raiser event, Goyal unveiled the fair logo, website, and promotional video, urging the industry to leverage this platform to showcase India’s global strengths, sustainability initiatives, and its prowess across the entire value chain.

Last week (17 October), the cotton sustainability initiative Better Cotton and the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH) explored ways to scale up regenerative agricultural practices to solve the most pressing environmental and socio-economic issues in India.
