Bhartiya International is to become the first leather manufacturer to use Eurofins BLC’s mapping service to geo reference and map its upstream raw material supply chain.
Eurofins BLC Leather Technology Centre Ltd (Eurofins BLC) is a technology centre and testing laboratory based in Northampton, United Kingdom. It provides a complete range of supply chain services to the leather industry, covering all areas from raw material through to finished product.
The supply chain map, which uses Eurofins BLC’s custom-developed data collection system, will enable Bhartiya to deliver supply chain transparency and detailed raw material traceability.
Once mapped, Bhartiya will be able to use the tool to communicate more effectively with its upstream suppliers ensuring policies on important topics such as animal welfare and deforestation can be communicated and validated.
In addition, Bhartiya says it is confident it will be able to verify its raw material sources are deforestation-free.
