CHINA: WTO Membership Boosts Textile Exports
Chinese textile exports rose 6.4 per cent to $26.6 billion in the first half of this year as textile producers started to see the benefits of membership of the World Trade Organisation. According to a report in the International Business Daily, imports fell 1.8 per cent to $7.8bn between January and June, with China's textile sector trade surplus widening 10 per cent to $18.8bn.
