Burlington, NC, May 4, 2000- Building from the success of past years, the Computer Integrated Textile Design Association (CITDA) will broaden its offering of seminars and activities at this year’s SURTEX 2000 event. SURTEX, an international showcase for selling and licensing designs for every surface, will be held May 21-23 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. CITDA has aligned with SURTEX to offer three information-packed programs on the use of CAD/CAM technology in surface design. This dynamic series will offer attendees the opportunity to stay abreast of the ever-changing technology landscape and to get a glimpse of the latest trends in design technology.The event will feature a keynote presentation and cocktail reception entitled The Creativity Connection. Presenter Lily Zane, Manager of International Design and Sourcing for Westpoint Stevens, Inc., will deliver an executive viewpoint of how design technology is paving the way for increased global sourcing and cross-media applications. Ms. Zane will discuss the advantages of using technology to improve lead times and profit margins by connecting design resources with marketing and production efforts.Other seminars on tap include the Mobile Designer, which will highlight software and hardware solutions for designers on the go, and a discussion of direct to fabric printing trends in Digital Printing Gets Real. The Business of Design will share insight on the dollars and sense of running a CAD studio and how to justify a design technology purchase.By offering technology seminars in partnership with SURTEX, CITDA hopes to broaden the awareness of digital design solutions for the textile and surface design industries.
