The Dow Chemical Company has won a record number of innovation awards at the annual Edison Awards Gala in New York City – with this year’s winners including its Ecofast Pure textile treatment.

Five breakthrough technologies from Dow were recognised at the awards in categories ranging from clean manufacturing to coating and packaging materials. The Edison Awards honour excellence in new product and service development, marketing, human-centred design, and innovation.

Launched last year, Ecofast Pure sustainable textile treatment enables unique, brighter colours on cotton textiles while helping address sustainability challenges in the industry, including quality and consumption of water. The patented technology reduces water, dye, energy and chemical use in the dyeing process and meets the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme standards.

The technology, which was awarded a silver medal, is compatible with reactive, direct and acid dyes and can be applied to knit and woven fabric, denim and garments.

Earlier this month, Dow successfully completed its separation from DowDuPont, in a move intended to allow it to become a more “focused, streamlined, and leading materials science company.”
