EGYPT: US Textile/Clothing Exports Slip In Q1
Egyptian trade chiefs on Wednesday said yarns, textiles and apparel exports to the US fell to $133.1 million during the first quarter from $139.6m in the year-ago period amid the global economic slowdown. Officials said exports of ready-made garments to the US slipped to $98.6m from $106.8m in 2001. Those figures come just weeks after the country#;s textile and clothing industry posted a two per cent dip in full-year exports to the US to $508.6m.
