FRANCE: Autumn’s PV Picks Up On Piece-Dyed Fabrics

Piece-dyed fabrics seem set to play a larger role than for several seasons at the Autumn 2000 Premiere Vision which takes place from 5-8 October at the Paris Nord exhibition centre. Piece-dyed cotton trouserings, for instance, will be the focal point of the collection offered by Roquette-Gabardine. This division of the Roquette group, whose principal interest is fabric dyeing, will be making special use of its in-house finishing facilities to give added tactile appeal to its range. This features both peach skin and papery handles, and includes a number of lines with what is currently being described as a "soapy" handle. Combed pure wool is meanwhile the choice for piece-dyed trouserings from Sociedade Textil Mouras do Pereininho. This vertically integrated Portugese producer is also keen to put the spotlight on finishing, with Teflon treatments a major feature in the easy care section of the collection. From Spain, Palao offers piece-dyed silk jacquards and re-embroidered effects targeted at the medium to better end women's manufacturers, while Colors and Fashions are looking to mass-market producers to take up their piece-dyed plain or discationic polyesters. Embroidery once again catches the eye in the previews of the range that will be shown in full by Ricamificio Vittorio Vanoni. The company will also be introducing an enhanced range of guipure laces which it believes could be due for a major revival ― not just in the lingerie trade but as trimmings for streetwear fashion. Piece-dyes as the basis for printed motifs on both woven and knitted fabrics are the new season's fashion story from the German house of Franz Max Pauen ― which also predicts a comeback for co-ordinates in the summer of 2002. At the moment it looks as though Paris Nord will attract some 845 exhibitors for the next PV, of whom 802 will be weavers. They will come from 14 countries and on the basis of early bookings already made will be seen by some 40,000 visitors.
