  • Iran is slated to get its first apparel industrial park set up by the public, private and cooperative sectors and aimed at meeting domestic demand as well as boosting exports. A memorandum of understanding has been signed in relation to it. It will be located near Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran. The first phase of the park has already been designed and the development has started for the second phase.   • A “major” Lebanese company which specialises in fashion design has entered into a contract with an Egyptian clothing manufacturer for a contract worth US$3m. The deal will see the supply of ready-made Egyptian clothing and garments to Lebanan, Dubai and countries in West Africa. This cooperation comes within the framework of the “Egypt-Lebanon to Africa” initiative, which is the nucleus of the Arab-African economic cooperation based on achieving Egyptian-Lebanese integration.   • The Afghanistan Government has called on industry owners to present plans and recommendations for ways to revive the country’s textile industry. Based on government statistics, Afghanistan harvests more than 59,000 tons of cotton a year but there are no factories in the country. In the past, there were at least seven textile companies in Afghanistan – in Kabul, Parwan, Balkh, Kandahar and Baghlan – but over the years these were destroyed in the various wars. TOLO NEWS
