Grasim Industries, a subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Group, has entered into a “joint cooperation” with Rieter Group.

Rieter is supplying its air-jet spinning machine J 26 at the Textile Research and Development Centre (TRDC) in Gujarat. The machine claims to guarantee the perfect combination of spinning preparatory and end spinning system. The Com4jet yarn structure allows low pilling, high washing resistance and dimensional stability, offering potential in the development of new and innovative products.

TRADC is a pilot plant involved in addressing the downstream textile value chain. It acts as an R&D hub for the VSF manufacturing units belonging to Aditya Birla Group, committed to finding technologies and innovations centred around sustainability.

Rieter said the cooperation will allow the two to explore the production of best quality air-jet spun yarns and fabrics made from Grasim’s viscose staple fibre and its blends. The end result is expected to be products made with yarns spun using mature technologies and sustainable fibres.
