INDIA: Apparel Exports Climb In May
India's exports of ready-made garments to quota nations climbed 9.2 per cent in value terms and six per cent in volume terms last month compared to the year-ago period. Figures released by the Apparel Export Promotion Council on Tuesday showed total exports by value to restricted countries in May rose to $431.1 million from $394.7m in May 2001. In terms of quantity, total exports climbed to 119.6 million pieces from 113.2 million pieces in the year prior.
