INDIA: Call For Higher Silk Yarn Import Duties
Indian textile chiefs on Wednesday asked for a 10 per cent increase in silk yarn import duties amid growing concern over falling domestic prices due to a rise in cut-price silk yarn imports.
Federal Textiles Minister Kashiram Rana wants silk yarn import levies upped to 40 per cent from 30 per cent as the sharp drop in silk prices is having an adverse impact on the nation’s cocoon growers.
