INDIA: Garment Exports Fall 21.2 Per Cent In 2001
According to figures compiled by the Apparel Export Promotion Council, India's readymade garment exports fell 21.2 per cent in value and 15.98 per cent in quantity in 2001 to 1264.3 million pieces worth US$4542.9 million. However, the sector's performance showed some improvement in December, when there was a rise of 4.59 per cent in volume and 1.7 per cent value compared to the same month in 2000.
