INDIA: Gucci Shuns Indian Leather On Cruelty Grounds
Top Italian fashion company Gucci has become the latest in a line of designers and retailers to boycott Indian leather on the grounds of unlawful animal abuse. Esprit, TJX, Gap Inc, Reebok, Nike, J Crew, Liz Claiborne, Nordstrom, Timberland, Florsheim are among those companies that have already refused to use Indian skins after the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) highlighted the appalling treatment meted out to animals killed for their hides.
