INDIA: Silk Industry Prepares For Key International Exhibition
India's Junior Minister for Textiles, M V Dhananjay Kumar, admitted on Friday silk exports had dipped since September 11 but that the forthcoming four-day International Silk Congress would address the problems of the industry and exports. The event, which starts in Bangalore on Monday, is expected to attract over 200 industry experts from 35 countries, with the focus on sustaining production and supply of raw silk, popularisation of silk as an eco-friendly fibre and enlarging its consumer base.
