A prolonged strike by scores of textile workers in Surat is crippling the industry’s export market with numerous foreign orders being cancelled as a result, garment chiefs warned on Thursday. Chand Anand, president of the All India Garment Exporters Common Cause Guild (AIGECCG), said the two-week strike had led to serious fabric shortages, especially in the manufacture of georgette, moss-crepe, polyfabrics and lining fabrics.
