INDIA: Textile Exports Back On Track After 2001 Plunge
Official figures on Tuesday revealed that the value of India's textile exports for the six months to October 2001 plunged 13.6 per cent to $6.1 billion, from the $7.1bn recorded in the year-ago period. According to a report from the Ministry of Textiles, that drop was primarily due to the global economic slowdown and the financial fall-out of the September 11 terrorist attacks on the US.
