Social media platform Instagram has taken yet another step towards “seamless” shopping, launching three new features it says will provide consumers with an easier way to shop online ahead of the key holiday trading season.
The photo-sharing app has introduced a new ‘Shopping Collection’ feature, which allows consumers to save items to revisit later. Users must tap a product tag in Stories or Feed, then tap the Save icon in the bottom right corner to save it to the collection, which can be accessed from your profile.
Meanwhile, Instagram is also testing a redesign of the Shop tab on business profiles so users can quickly view all products featured in their shopping posts. When users visit a business profile, they simply tap on the ‘Shop’ button to see a brand’s products, such as the item name, price, and the post featuring the item.
In addition, the social media platform has also launched a new ‘Shop in Videos’ feature, which allows users to view products directly through the photo-sharing app, streamlining the online shopping process by removing the need to search a brand’s website for the desired product and its price. Users must tap the shopping icon in the bottom left corner to reveal the featured products.
The new feature works in much the same way as Instagram’s ‘Shopping in Stories’ feature, which it rolled out to businesses in 46 countries earlier this year.
