JAPAN: Pollen-Resistant Clothing Goes On Sale
Synthetic fibre maker Toray Industries Inc has developed a special pollen-resistant fabric aimed at allergy and hay-fever sufferers. A range of women's coats and hats made from the fabric will go on sale at Jusco supermarket stores, operated by Aeon Co, in February. The material has been developed in collaboration with a group of biologists at Toho University. It is woven with very fine polyester fibres that prevent pollens - which usually measure 20-40 microns in diameter - from penetrating the fabric.
