JAPAN: Toray Invests Y8 Billion In Chinese Plant
Japanese fabric manufacturing giant Toray Industries Inc intends to invest eight billion yen ($65.41 million) in a new plant at its Chinese division, Toray Sakai Weaving & Dying Co Ltd, in Nantong. The development, due to start operations in January 2003, is expected to boost polyester production from 2.5m metres a month to 5.5m. It will also add production of nylon filament fabric at a rate of 2m metres monthly. Both fabrics are used in sports and casual wear.
